Pre-Algebra
Dear Grade 7 Parents,
Homework started early in the week’s cycle will benefit the student. The information will be fresher and will give more time to ask questions. Lunch Bunch is on Tuesday and Thursday.
We are now using the distributive property and our knowledge of positive and negative integers to simplify algebraic expressions. “Like terms” need to be grouped (collected) and then evaluated.
Our new skill will involve using addition and subtraction to solve simple equations requiring the student to add or subtract the same terms on both sides of the equal sign in order to isolate the variable. This property is called using the additive inverse.
