School Life & Services: Transportation

The two campuses of the French International School of Philadelphia are conveniently located in Bala Cynwyd, on the Main Line, less than 20 minutes from Center City Philadelphia and most suburbs.

Schools are easily accessible by the Schuylkill Expressway, as well as by public transportation. The Merion station of the SEPTA R5 line is located a pleasant 15-minute walk from the school, and bus 44, which runs from Center City to Ardmore, stops at the corner of Old Lancaster and North Highland Avenue, two minutes away from our school.

Parents generally drive our younger students to and from school. We publish our Parents' Directory early in the summer so that parents can organize carpools between themselves. Most of our families reside within a 15-mile radius of the school. Transportation by public school district buses is available beginning at kindergarten or first grade in most adjoining communities. Our school makes the initial contact with the school district transportation office to determine eligibility and schedules. This service is free.

We organize a number of field trips over the course of the academic year. For transportation, we charter buses from a private company and ask parents to help chaperone the trips.
