Catherine Kosman serves as the Interim Co-Head of School for the French International School of Philadelphia. In this role, she is excited to continue to provide the best education for the students, to support the families, faculty and staff, and to continue to increase the visibility of the French International School in the Philadelphia region.  

From 1986 through 1990, Mrs. Kosman taught in a bilingual school in a suburb of New York City. At that time, she was informed by the Inspectrice de l’Education Nationale that there were people in the Philadelphia area who were interested in founding a school with a French program. She became one of the founders and has served the French International School’s community ever since.

Mrs. Kosman is a graduate of American University in Paris where she received her degree in art history. She participated in the American Society accredited program in New Jersey and holds a Montessori Certification from the American Montessori Society.

Born and raised in the 14th arrondissement in Paris, France and in the South suburb of Paris, Bourg la Reine, in the Hauts de Seine department, Mrs. Kosman is a native French speaker fluent in English and Italian. From a young age, she loved learning English with her father. She spent a month each summer in England from sixth through twelfth grades. When she was 12, her family moved to Genoa, Italy where she became fluent in Italian.

In keeping with her bilingual heritage, she has spoken to her children in French since they were born.
