School Life & Services: Extended Day

Team Sports

Our Upper School students can participate in our soccer team in the fall, basketball team in the winter, and swim team in the spring. The teams meet with their coach twice a week after school for an hour and 15 minutes. They play a regular schedule with other middle school teams.

Chorus and Ensemble

In second to fourth grades, students are invited to be members of our Chorus, a choral group that meets once a week. Students also can join the Ensemble, our instrumental group that meets once a week. We strive to expose our students to as many different experiences as possible, because each is as an opportunity for learning.

Child Care

The French International School of Philadelphia provides morning child care from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., as well as after-school care from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Parents may enroll their children in these programs according to their needs. Parents may also use our child care program on an emergency basis at a higher rate.

Study Hall

After school, a study hall period is available Monday through Thursday. Students in grades one through eight can complete some of their weekly homework assignments under the supervision and guidance of one of our French teachers. After study hall, students in grades one through three may be picked up from school or enrolled in child care.

After-School Classes

Our after-school classes include many choices for different age groups such as chess, theater, soccer and circus. They begin shortly after the end of the school day and last about one hour. Some are conducted in French and provide language reinforcement for our students, the majority of whom do not speak French at home.

Lower School students may be enrolled in child care after an after-school class.
