Born in Segou, Mali, Mariame Guissé is the administrative assistant at the French International School of Philadelphia Upper School. She also serves as a substitute French teacher. In her spare time, Ms. Guissé volunteers for Yiri which raises funds to start a special supplemental nutrition program for infants, children, pregnant and lactating women in Mali.
Previously, Ms. Guissé held various administrative jobs in bookkeeping, office management and staffing. From 2008 through 2013, she served as an administrative assistant at the Embassy of the Republic of Burundi in Washington, D.C. In 2007, she was a financial analyst intern for the Central Bank of Western African Countries in Bamako, Mali.
A graduate of the University of Maryland, Ms. Guissé received her master’s degree in accounting and financial management. She is fluent in French and English, and speaks Bambara.
In addition to the United States, Ms. Guissé has lived in Segou and Bamako, Mali; Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah, Saudia Arabia; Paris, France; Halle, Germany; Casablanca, Morroco; Dubai and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Bobo and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; Dakar, Senegal; and Niamey, Niger.
When asked to provide incoming families with advice as it relates to becoming a member of the French International School, Ms. Guissé said, “Be prepared for an amazing experience.”
